1 out of 5 stars short life span   August 5, 2010

I picked one of these up at Wal-Mart and it didn't even last two weeks, it simply stopped working. Paid a little more for a Theo UL 50 Watt heater and it's been working great for months now!

1 out of 5 stars Beware - could kill your fish   July 23, 2010

It electrocuted my catfish... Why? Because they don't do quality control in China. Yes, you can feel how angry I am for killing my catfish which I've had for years. I wish I could give a negative star on this review. Never buy Tetra products, you have been warned.

I bought this heater (from WalMart)last week for my 5 gallon tank. When I first put it in the tank the red light came on. After maybe a minute or so the light turned off. I wondered whether or not it was heating the water...

After a couple days I moved the heater to my 10 gallon tank. The light did not come on, even after unplugging and replugging it. It's been in this tank for about three days, and the light hasn't come on. The temperature has actually dropped a few degrees since being in this tank. I will be returning it to the store as soon as possible.

1 out of 5 stars Horrible heater   February 20, 2010

I was excited to get a heater for my smaller aquarium but this one did not ever get the temperature higher than 72 degrees. On the box it says 78 degrees + or - 2 degrees. What a waste of time. I returned it the next day. If you care about the heat in your tank you probably won't want this one. It if were only adjustable I could then have turned it up and kept it. Instead it is a worthless piece of equipment. Save yourself the time and grief of ordering this item.
