Product Description Features: The Hydor ETH in-line external heater is designed for most aquarium applications involving water hose of the specified diameter. The most common application is for use with canister filters as shown above, however the ETH is easily adapted for use in almost any situation where heated aquarium water is required, such as with wet/dry sump pumps. The ETH is easily installed by cutting the tubing and connecting the two parts of the tube to each side of the ETH. For reduced cleaning maintenance, it is recommended that the ETH be installed within the filter?s output assembly. As most canister filters are not designed to bear weight, it is recommended that the ETH be properly supported by the use of the attached loop to avoid stress on the output assembly. The ETH is completely safe and UL listed. There is no danger of damage if the ETH is left running dry for short periods as the ETH will switch itself off in that event. The ETH heats with high efficiency by means of an internal heat pump system that avoids temperature variations. For use in freshwater and marine aquariums. Fits most canister filters such as the Hydor Prime, the Rena Filstar, Eheim canisters, and the Fluval canisters with the use of a short section of tubing to complete the connection. Use of the ETH cleaning brush is recommended. Two year guarantee.
Customer Reviews: ETH 201 In-Line Heater UL 200W f/16mm & 5/8" HoseDecember 16, 2009 FrankieP77(Long Island (NY)) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
My first fish was a little crazy and used to swim frantically around the tank banging into the walls. Turns out he smashed the glass heater and the rest (along with the fish) is history. Went to the "in-line" heater version after that and this heater works great. Use it in a 30 gallon, acrylic tank.
excellant heaterNovember 13, 2009 Terry Tabacco(Antioch, California) I have 3 of these heaters in current use and am buying 3 more as I now have 10 baby turtles and need to add more tanks. Mine are currently being used in a 50gal aquarium and two 70gal stock tanks for turtles. I have tried the in tank tube heaters and the turtles would break them by moving them around in the tank. I also worried about burns from the in tank type heaters. These heaters free up floor space and make cleaning easier. The heaters do an excellent job of keeping the water at 80 degrees and in the 3 years I have had them not once have they failed. My tanks are in my garage so the heaters are required to heat the water in 35 degree weather and work fine. Also with the heater adjustment outside the tank temp adjustments are much easier. They do require a canister type filter as they are installed on the outside inline with the filter water flow. I use magnum 350 canister filters and the heater is installed on the discharge line. I would recommend these to anyone needing a reliable easy to adjust heater.
